What It Takes to Build Great Automated Test Platforms for Hardware Devices
A practical play-by-play on how teams test complex hardware systems, choose regression suites, and build automated validation around a delivery-drone example.
How I Work
I've previously built hardware-in-the-loop test systems, field sensing devices, inspection software, and startup products. The common thread is evidence: capture the right signal, make it traceable, and turn it into a decision someone can trust.
Start with the signal. Build the smallest rig, workflow, or interface that makes the problem measurable. Then make the result useful enough that the next person can act on it.
I’ve lived and worked across Edmonton, Kelowna, Vancouver, Montreal, Taipei, Austin, and Tokyo. That mix taught me to pay attention to context: the operator, the customer, the lab bench, the deployment site, and the awkward handoff between them.

The tools change by project. The pattern usually does not: measure the system, automate the repeatable parts, and keep the interface honest.

Founded a company to enable intelligent inspection capabilities for physical infrastructure using visual and spatial intelligence tooling for construction, city infrastructure, and industrial teams.
Key Achievement
Drove development of an automated 3D inspection platform and established industry partnerships for pilot studies.

Built a business intelligence and data gathering platform for service-based SMBs, enabling operational insight, customer understanding, and growth.
Key Achievement
Scaled to 2,000+ monthly active users, supporting 35 businesses across Taiwan, Japan, and South Korea.

Technical Program Manager, Hardware & Systems
Owned the hardware and systems test program, building custom automated hardware-in-the-loop test platforms supporting product development through EVT and DVT.

Enabled 3x faster testing through automated platforms and reduced consumable wastage, saving approximately $400K.

Developed and integrated sensing systems to optimize industrial extraction and processing workflows.

Designed and productized a plant yield measurement tool, enabling farmers to assess crop readiness in-field at 95% lower cost than lab-based testing.
